Van Acht Logistics is a family-owned business that is committed to investing in the future. Since 1930, we have been working with a close team, with the fourth generation currently involved. We take pride in this continuity. We continue to operate based on the same principles and values: reliability, quality, and short lines of communication.
Agricultural origins
We began as an agricultural company, raising cows, pigs, chickens, engaging in crop farming, and fruit cultivation. The fruit harvest was sold at local markets. To meet the need for proper fruit cooling and in anticipation of future developments, we built our first mechanical cooling cell in 1968.
Your stock, our focus
Due to the growing trade in fruits, we eventually decided to discontinue our agricultural activities. This decision was made by the third generation, who entered the company during the 1980s. The number of cooling cells expanded significantly, and we decided to shift the focus of the business. By investing in new relationships and initiating close collaborations, we began storing more and more agricultural products for third parties, both refrigerated and non-refrigerated. Instead of growing our own crops, our focus shifted to storing the inventories of others.
Over time, the storage of products has become our core business. In the 1990s, we transformed into a specialized company in refrigerated, frozen, and unconditioned storage. Today, we have storage capacity for more than 85,000 pallets. Our clientele includes growers, horticulturists, importers, exporters, logistics companies, and manufacturers. The fourth generation is now also involved in steering the company and continues to develop our business every day, ensuring that we continue to grow and evolve in the storage of a wide range of products.
Uniquely sustainable
Sustainable entrepreneurship is a crucial pillar within our company. For instance, since 1991, we have been completely natural gas-free. In 2019, we also installed 16,000 solar panels at 3 locations, allowing us to meet our own energy needs. We now generate more energy than we consume.
With the construction of our new location in Veghel, we are taking a new step towards sustainable entrepreneurship. That's why we are proud to have achieved the maximum 'Outstanding' score within the BREEAM-NL BRL 2020 certification, which truly proves our commitment to uniquely sustainable entrepreneurship.
